Privacy policy

FermentPad is an app for tracking fermenting, pickling, and canning recipes and batches. It's built so that your information stays on your own device. This policy explains what that means.

What we collect

Nothing. FermentPad has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. We don't collect, receive, sell, or share any personal information.

What stays on your device

Your recipes, batches, notes, readings, jar counts, and photos are saved only in the app's storage on your phone or tablet. We have no copy of them and no way to see them. If you delete the app, this information is deleted with it.

Camera and photos

FermentPad asks to use your camera and photo library only so you can add photos to your batches. Photos you add are kept in the app's storage on your device and are never uploaded anywhere.

Notifications

Reminders, like when a batch should be ready or when to check your seals, are scheduled on your device. They aren't sent from a server, and no information leaves your device to create them.

Backups

You can export a backup file from Settings. The app creates it on your device and hands it to your device's share menu. Where it goes from there, such as your email or cloud storage, is up to you, and that service's own privacy policy applies.

Shared recipes

When you share a recipe, the recipe itself is packed into the link you send. If someone opens that link in a web browser, the recipe is read inside their browser. The part of the link holding the recipe is never sent to our website, so we never receive or store shared recipes.

This website

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like most web hosts, GitHub may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, when pages are visited, under GitHub's privacy statement. The site uses fonts from Google Fonts, which may also log basic request information. We don't add any tracking of our own.

Children

FermentPad doesn't collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
